You don't have to travel far to nosh at this mall -- just walk next door to the next restaurant

By now we had eaten our friend Alvin and his family under the table, having had two full meals from 1 to 5pm. So he dropped us off at this large mall where we continued our search for some restaurants that our friend Loretta had suggested. Since she had given us the names in Chinese only, it was difficult to find the locations in the mall directory. And since it was raining, we had to do our reconnaissance from the car. My son-in-law did a sweep of the mall signs with his binoculars, and I confirmed the names in Chinese. By a stroke of luck, three of the Loretta's restaurants were lined up right next to each other. Each is known for different dishes. From left to right in the above photo:

Ding Tai Fung - for Shanghai food, particularly their shao loong bao (905) 943-9880
"The Best Chinese Restaurant" - for squab (a picture of 2 pigeons appears on the front of the take-out menu) (905) 305-8119
Congee Wong - for congee, especially seafood congee (905) 474-1844

The fourth restaurant in this mall that Loretta recommended was only a few storefronts away to the right. It is called:

VIP Restaurant (written as the Golden Ox in Chinese) - for Vietnamese food (905) 415-9699

We didn't have the time (or space in the stomach) to try these restaurants, but we will do so during our next trip to Toronto. They are all located at:

First Markham Place Mall, Highway 7 between Woodbine and Warden, Markham, Ontario
