"One of the many heros..."
I made it a point today to talk to my three boys about Patrick Tillman. There are not many people in today's American culture who would give up fame and fortune to pursue an endeavor becuase they feel it is the right thing to do, regardless of the cost and sacrifice that might be required. Patrick did exactly that, as many others have done, although more anonymously. I was hoping for a sunny day, with a colorful and flowing flag to photograph. Instead it is cold, gray, and snowing. Just as well, as these conditions better fit my mood. Regardless of your thoughts on the government's stance, please take some time to pay respect to our troops who have placed honor and service above all other things in their lives. I intend for my children to learn to respect those who serve their country and their community.

i completely agree, JD, and this is a beautiful tribute to a true hero. God Bless all the brave men and women from around the world that serve in the armed forces.

I echo Larry's thought exactly. I know and have known men and women who have been on site during this fighting. I feel it deeply and I think you did a very very wonderful thing with your boys JD..

This is very nicely done. I appreciate all who are sacrificing their lives for our country. I am especially proud of Patrick and what he has done. It is refreshing to hear of someone turning down fame and fortune for love of country. You made a beautiful tribute.

I'll be honest ... I am very angry at my government many times and am no fan at all of our president. But men like Patrick Tillman and all of the men and women who are sacrficing doing what they think is right are never to be uderestimated and we need them and we respect them all. May they all come home soon.
