Goldcrest

Over the months time and time again I have tried to shoot birds in the conifer outside my study window.
The design of the double glazing means that although open, the window is still in the way.
Today, with the wind blowing, a Goldcrest came onto the closest branch.
I just about managed to get it through the fanlight.
I was very pleased to get the shot even though it is blurred because the trees have to come down on Friday.
I shall miss them greatly.

Ma brought the tree you can see back from a holiday in Austria as a six inch shoot in about 1971. We had it in the garden of our flat and then it moved here with us in 1976.

The tree is pushing up the concrete drive and the one next to it has Honey Fungus disease.
Also they are very close to the house. This branch is about four foot from the window.

What a shame!
A great catch with the goldcrest, though!

Sorry to hear about the tree's demise. The new bird feeder might help with the bird photos, though.

That's a pity about the tree, especially when it gives you such a great photographic opportunity, being so close to the window.

Thank you both. I have rewritten the above to answer the questions.

Chris my hat is off to you. I have the greatest respect.

This past Saturday, I went and purchased birdseed, feeder etc..placed it outside one of my kitchen windows for what I thought to be easy access with camera..placing chair right there etc. Well needless to say, screen is in the way..oh well..but sitting patiently in that chair for what seems endless hours waiting and waiting..FINALLY a bird that seems to sit still enough..slowly bring camera up..focus..thinking, great shot...dammit bird flies off!!!

Forgot to ask! How come the trees are coming down?

Such a tiny little bird Chris - we have them down in the woods but I'm yet to get a shot of one! You've done well (despite the blurring) to get this!

Sorry I owe you an email!! By the time I'd read it you'd have gone away!! Hope you had a good time?
