This print was made with stencils, like a silkscreen. The image was duplicated,
producing two layers. Each layer was converted to very high contrast—-pure black
and white—-with a threshold that varied from layer to layer. Each layer then became
a stencil for a color, the lower layer for red, the upper layer for black.
The black part of each layer was converted to a color and the white part removed.
The stencils were then “rolled” in their respective colors and printed to a
white canvas. The same process could be done with more than two layers
and more than two colors.
