First day back teaching today after 2 weeks of Spring Break. It gave the pidgeons a chance for their egg (s) to hatch. This little gal does have one little chick up there. (per the tall person who tried to help me get a second 'straight on' shot from 5 ft away.. (Upset mom, who played wounded bird, so we quietly & guilitly left)
The pidgeons love to build nests up at the top of these posts. Their in our outdoor hallsways and only about 8 feet up in the air. With curious kids, (and some who shall remain adjectiveless) The eggs don't always get a chance to hatch. Usually our Kinder & First graders are pretty protective about this sign of Spring however. (and the teachers will do mini tours of the school-Let's go look for clues that tell us it's Spring!- so we love seeing the nest's hither and yon)
