Thanks to all of you,
It's usual in China to order number of dishes according to the number of persons, or, even little bit more, but I like this photo because of it's atmosphere. So many people around, table full of everything, and everybody is relaxed.
That's China, which I really love.
Best regards,
Vlado

Thanks, Likyin, for giving us your context from the Chinese point of view. You are right -- they probably are not quite yet at the point of nausea. It is indeed the incongruity of the small table trying to hold all those dishes that makes this picture so astonishing.

There were 10 people at the table, as I found out from counting chop sticks. Normally we will order around the same number of dishes, made it around 10 dishes in this case, then plused a bowl of noodle for each. That's still under control, right? There might be 3 dishes for each at west-food table, I believe, being served one by one.

It was the table size which gave us this dramatic effect, just too small for 10. I was also astonished at the beginning!

A wonderful image, Valdo, depending largely upon the incongruity of all those dishes covering the table. There is not an inch left for another dish. One wonders what might be going in the stomachs of all of those people?
