A couple of days ago we went to the Hospital for Sick Children's hearing clinic to see the surgeon and audiologist. To our pleasant surprise, Madelyn received her cool new hearing aid right away. The 1st part of it is held onto the back of her ear (mastoid bone - I think is the term) with toupee tape, and the second part is the actual microphone, which at this time just lapel clips to her clothes.

I understand that babies begin hearing at something like 20 weeks in the womb, so this whole sound thing is very new to her. She is adjusting well... There is a definitely a difference in her eyes when its on!

She has some aging to do now! As she gets a little older, the corrective surgeries, and more advanced hearing aids will become options.... for now, she'll be our little secret service agent!

Fascinating the things technology can do today! Beautiful baby.

Technology can be a wonderful thing. My grandmother recently got a cochlear implant, and the difference is quite amazing. God bless your little one.
