Some of the ingredients of the Paschal Supper, a Christian take on the Jewish Seder. My parish has been celebrating the Paschal Supper for about 30 years on Holy Thursday after a 6:00pm Mass. The symbols here and their Jewish and Christian meaning: a roasted shankbone--the lamb sacrificed at Passover in the Temple, The Paschal Lamb; a roasted egg--the destroyed Temple and mourning for it, the risen Christ; maror, bitter herbs (radish)--a reminder of the bitterness of the Egyptian slavery, none; Matzoh--commemoration of the unleavened bread which the Jews took with them when they fled Egypt (symbol of freedom), Body of Christ.

About 150-200 people attend dinner of roasted lamb, potatoes, green beans, pound cake for dessert and plenty of wine. It's a pretty popular event. Sorry no people photos. :(

I was supposed to coordinate my PAD with Jeanne to bring your attention to Autism Awareness Month, but we didn't coordinate, if you haven't seen hers for today check it out please.

Oh very interesting photo and caption - I always find the interconnections between these two faiths fascinating.

Mark, we found this to be quite interesting. Now, can you explain to me why it is okay to eat fish but not chicken on Fridays? Pat can't explain it to me, he says that is just the way it is!

An interesting take on Christianity and Judaism. Pat is a now non practising Jew but in the past I attended his family passover - very enlightening, although difficult to understand as most of it was in Hebrew!! Anyway, I like the photo, and the description of the meaning - I always forget!
