American Wigeon

Reelfoot Lake, TN

The drake American Wigeon is easily known by the green facial patch seperating the white forecrown and grayish flecked lower face. The rich pinkish-brown sides are also different from other ducks. In flight, drakes show a large white patch on the upperwing coverts, not shown by any other dabbler.
