Gadwall

These Gadwall aptly demonstrate why the name Gray Duck is often used. The patterning of the silver tertials and chestnut scapulars is a real treat when seen well. Usually, as on most of the ones visible here (but not the Mallards behind) the white secondary patch can be seen at rest.
