This banded adult Trumpeter Swan was accompanied by another banded adult and an unbanded immature bird. Unfortunately the young bird was lost, and one of the adults injured by waterfowlers (most waterfowlers respect the birds and laws, a few obviously don't though). Identification of adult Trumpter/Tundra Swans can be very tough. The band alleviated this problem here, but note the long, flat bill with a decidedly Canvasback profile, and that the eye doesn't stand out at all from the bare skin coming back from the bill, on Tundra the bare skin is narrower in front of the eye, making the eye more noticeable behind it.
