Sunday Afternoon Coffee by Steve Hiscock

I just poured myself a hot cup of coffee on a lazy Sunday afternoon, pondering what photo I was going to place in the Joy category. Not much gives me more joy than to sit down with a hot cup of coffee and have a chat with my wife!

I am a few hours early to enter the competition, so I am entering this in the exhibition category. Pour yourself a cup of your favourite beverage and enJOY!

Hi Steve,
While the noise is easy to see, I don't find it too distracting. It's up to you whether you clean it up. If you do, don't forget to just update the picture in the same gallery location from the bottom of the edit screen. That will save all the information, including the comments against your pic.
Cheers, John

Wow, thanks for the nice comments John and Niamh! Upon looking at this photo on PBase, I think it looks a little noisy... should I run it through Noise Ninja and re-post?

There is already 18 posts in the exhibition area, it looks like this is going to be a fun one!

Thanks again, Steve

Steve - I like the bubbles on the surface of the coffee for that "just poured" look and the long shadow behind. You've filled the frame well. It's a shame one can't photograph the scent of the coffee as well, isn't it? It's the only thing that's missing - except maybe a bagel. ;)

Hi Steve,
Great solution in response to Claudio's challenge to do the theme without people. I really like the simplicity, framing and lighting/shadow to position the subject just so and still fill the frame very effectively with unobtrusive diagonals. I also like the understated colours that add to the soothing effect of the coffee. Great job!
Cheers, John
