Another look at "The Awakening"

Am I beating this one to death? I wanted to do the foot today, but the light wasn't right at 12:30. Another hard bike ride this morning. (I'm trying to get into shape to eventually do a "century" ride--100 miles, in one day, about 7 hours or less, I think. There are some nice ones in September.) After keeping a tough pace, I stopped and took some pics. I was sitting on his beard and fell off. My cycling tights and windbreaker are pretty slick! I landed flat on my back but my camelback water supply cushioned the fall nicely and I just looked stupid. Not nearly as bad as the time I fell off the bike at a red light. I couldn't get my foot out of the pedal.

Busy day. The afternoon consisted of a big sing at church. Here I am all dressed up before it.

Yeah I think that catches the emotion I am feeling right about now. Good shot.

Good idea frsty50. Thank you Linda, Jill, Ann, Jacquie, and Sher. Good points CJ. I imagine I'll walk into a sign one day, while taking a photo of the day. Very true about lighting.

I am STILL laughing.

Often unspoken sign of our improving image making -- we fall on our butts sometimes (or scrape our knees, or sometimes even do a complete face plant). No, I'm not talking figurative, but rather quite literally. Welcome to the club Mark. In any event, the image you made here is quite perfect for the lighting conditions. This is extremely well done. Which just goes to show that there is no lighting condition which is necessarily better than any other.... it is only better for certain subjects, that is all. Excellent use of the midday light.

Laughing at the antics of a fall from this. No you are not working this to death, I have been waiting to see this. Although he appears to be in anquish.

LOL! I had to laugh at the image of you falling off his nose! Wouldn't have if I was there, I hope. It just sounded so funny. Nice pic; been looking foward to see more of him. This isn't nearly as creepy as the arms and hand.

This series of shots would be great printed and put into a frame with multiple openings.

great composition...the b&w is a good choice. lol...those camelbacks come in handy, don't they? glad you weren't hurt!
brother_mark14-Mar-2004 04:32
I'm glad you all weren't there! The people who did see it were much more concerned about my well-being. To them it must have looked terribly painful.

A GREAT shot! B&W works perfect!

I agree about putting all these together in one gallery . .would be waaay cool . . but not complete without one of you bouncing off his beard. Like Lara I had to laugh & did so loudly that it brought others into the room going "what? what? WHAT!!!"
JD Anderson14-Mar-2004 03:33
OK, so I won't laugh at you... I have fallen over at a red light as well, unable to get my foot unclipped. Unfortunately, it was summer in Virginia, and I could hear people laughing at me (car windows rolled down). Live and learn, I guess. I did my first century when I was 17, and have done many since then. It is a great goal, and lots of fun. Good luck with your training!

Dude!! You FELL off! You have me cracking up!

Mark, I love this sculpture! Keep shooting it, then put it all together in it's own gallery!
Guest 14-Mar-2004 03:25
No, you're not. I've enjoyed seeing them quite a lot. They are very well done also. I like this composition. Glad you didn't hurt yourself; me-- I never fall down or look stupid (I shouldn't tell lies like this I know).
brother_mark14-Mar-2004 03:25
Yes people saw me. They asked if I was okay. Before hitting the ground I hit various parts of his beard. I took this after.
Lara S14-Mar-2004 03:21
Now that I'm back up on my chair. Fell off when I was laughing. so no one saw you fall? No PaDers out there? All kidding aside, this is a great close-up. I like how you came in close. And I agree. Great angle. Did you take it when you fell? Ok ok I'll stop laughing now.
Guest 14-Mar-2004 03:19
I like the angle and crop. Looks like you've caught him mid-sneeze! Great tone.
