My Girl (*)
Second Place

Traralgon, Australia

I couldn't let this special challenge go by without acknowledging my favourite model. She has appeared in many challenges, both as a subject and as a photographer. With her help, my portrait skills have improved immensely. This is Bryden Ashleigh, she is 10 years old and she's my youngest child, my most willing model and my favourite photography companion.

You have used water to great effect (again), and the beach-towell fits well. Lighting great - I wish my boys would sit still long enough to position the bananas & tupperware! Neil

Beautiful portrait and thoughtful expression. Water drops working well

Great portrait, she's a real cutie. The tight framing and soft light work well. I'm glad to see that she's entered some of her work in exhibition.

Gayle, This is a lovely portrait of a lovely girl. I like the way she looks unabashedly at the camera and I love her expression. She looks like a person with character and I bet she takes after her mum. Ann C

This is a beautiful portrait. Everytime I look at this it brings back memories of my two daughters at this age. I know that technically it is very good, but for me, when an image can produce a strong memory inside myself, then that image has much more meaning to me. Thanks for causing that feeling.

Nice portrait of a beautiful child. Not only is it technically well done, but it also tells a story in an understated way. --Garrett

A beautiful portrait...and wonderful use of light. How fortunate you are to have such a willing (and photogenic) subject! --flowersand

Beautifully done Gayle. At this rate, I would not be suprised to see her on the cover of a magazine some day, she is not only very pretty, but also a natural in front of the camera. Susan

...and a fine portrait it is too.
