This basket of Pysanky eggs were done by my late father in law. He made two or three a day.
These eggs were decorated through the Ukrainian art of Pysanky. The eggs are blown then beeswax is applied with a Kistka (stylus). It is then placed in an aniline dye, the previous step is repeated until the egg is finished. The egg is then warmed and the wax removed and varnished. In the Ukraine, on Easter day after Mass, the Pysanky were exchanged as people greeted each other as a sign of fondness for each other.
