On July 4,2002 Marti and I rode with Joe and Becky to Cloudcroft, New Mexico. It is 443 miles to our destination--The Lodge. We had to cross the dreaded Llano Estacado--a barren desert prairie that Larry McMurty wrote about in his book Dead Man's Walk. We were to meet a few kinfolks there. Barry and Sarah Lacey, Jan and Richard Morris, Jerry and Ann Wall, and their kids...Jason and Tyler.
