2nd February 2004

Hold very tight please!!

This is our front door bell push.

It came from a London Transport Trolleybus.
The trolleybuses were being replaced by Routemaster buses.

I climbed the fence at Colindale Depot and unscrewed it from a trolleybus awaiting distruction in about 1961.
(First Nikki and now me admitting theft. Who will be next??)
Would you like to see a Trolleybus?

Cool photo! I definitely would have to push again just to see what would happen :)

Hmmm...will the British authorities allow you to post a PAD from prison when they catch up with you for this theft?! Great shot, and a fantastic doorbell.

LOL! This button is just ASKING to be pushed more than once, like Jeanne and Jill :) I would do the same. Very interesting story!

Wow! You seem to collect loads of interesting artefacts, and actually USE them around the house! Very novel idea - I like it!

I think I have a photo of a friend stealing a 'No Photography' sign from a Russian Air Base fence in Germany just after the wall came down. I will have to dig that out and post it on my pages at some point!

LOL @ Jeanne..that is so me too. I would be apt to push it more than once. What a charming reminder of a little bit of history.

See, with those instructions "PUSH ONCE" I would be FORCED to ring it MORE than once! Especially since it's your doorbell! Hope I get to see this in person someday, Chris!!

I remember this bell! When I was a kid all the buses in Hong Kong used this kind of bell. They were put at the roof of the bus and we could only press the bell with my mum's assistance. I was also curious why it would not ring again when I pressed it twice. Thanks for making me recall my memory.

Interesting image. It grabs the attention. Nice arrangement of the elements in the composition.

I wouldn't considerd this a theft - more like a voluntary conservation :-)
Amusing piece in this context - I like the picture.
