In the middle of the street this lady milks the cow. The calf is standing beside after drinking first and the son will drink the milk after. The black rope around his middle serves to protect him from evil and mother is wearing a yellow robe around her neck to indicate that she is married. The boys in the background are wearing no sandals at all as most chilfren do here in Sellur.
The only one who is not pleased is the cow not trusting that 'vellikaran' or white man standing behind her: me. This black and white cow was imported from the Netherlands, originaly and crossed with the Indian brown cow to become more milk. But do take care, they are more aggressive then the brown, so better step aside for this one as they all run free around town denying all traffic.
