I've always been facinated with handguns.
I don't consider myself to be a nut case,
but if you've ever fired one, you know what I am talking about.
There's just something about handguns that is uniquely American.
I'm not talking about gang-bangers, drug dealers, and criminals,
but law abiding citizens that enjoy sending large amounts of lead downrange,
in a safe and controlled manner.
I began shooting practical pistol matches in the early 90's.
In addition to having a great time on the range with my fellow shooters,
I spent a lot of my time helping to run our local club, including running our website,
computing monthly scores, and sending out a monthly newsletter.
In the early part of those years, I also became a Certified Range Officer,
and started designing my own courses of fire for competitors to test their skills at.
I worked hard in 1996 and finished Best of Class at my local club.
This was my first trophy ever, for recognition of that year.
I met a lot of great shooters, both male and female, some of whom I consider to be my
best friends.
However, with all things in life, it is easy to become burned out. I might have been too
excited, too willing to take on more responsibilities. It was just a matter of time.
I haven't been to an organized match since September of 2001,
in which I shot one of the best matches of my life.
I've been meaning to return, but priorities in life change, and so it's just
one of those things that have been put on the back burner.
