The Traveling Cameras visit the Ice Palace in St. Paul, MN USA

Braving single digit temperatures, the Traveling Camera(s) visit the Ice Palace at the St. Paul, MN
Winter Carnival 2004

The Ice Palace covers at least a city block and the ice weighs something like eleven-million lbs. It took a crew of something in the neighborhood of 1300 people to harvest the ice and construct the castle. The expected attendance was to be over 1 million people in the two weeks that it will be open - as it turned out, we had a half-million on Saturday alone. I guess we don't have much else to do up here in the frozen north other than to walk around in subzero temperatures looking at brightly colored chunks of ice while asking one another "Sooo, is it coldt enough far ya den?" to which the standard answer is "Yah, youbetcha!"

It's a pretty cool place (pun intended) and I wouldn't trade it for the world.
