If you think this is scary- well, you're absolutely right. Eastern brown snakes are responsible for a high proportion of snakebites
in Australia because they have a nervous nature and are quick to stand their ground. They also often live near people, especially
where there are a lot of mice. These snakes are excellent mousers, being able to enter the burrows and polish off the family
while the cat has to wait outside. As you can see the Eastern Brown snake has a brightly coloured underbelly which helps serve as
a warning when the snake is annoyed, as it is in this picture. A bit of an old photo, I have lost a bit of my nerve since those heady days of youth!
