January 22

Trumpeter Swans. Near extinction a few decades ago, they have made a remarkable comeback. This family, Mom and Dad who mate for life,
are the white birds, and the youngsters are grey (there were 4 juveniles, but this was the best I could do).
These I spotted on a nearby field and were the only ones, though occasionally I have seen quite large flocks as they
overwinter in the area. They are wary and tend to fly off before you manage to get photos,
so I was pleased that these seemed a little curious about me and allowed me to get a few images.

Thanks for the comments on my shots. I looks like you were probably a little warmer than I was. Any, I like how you have knowledge of the subject. So many people just shoot. I had never seen them eat before and laughed as they pull the weeds from under the water then shake their heads as they swallow. I noticed that the adults are really checking you out. Happy shooting.

Wow! You set this up so beautifully with the barn and the awesome tree. Love it!

I love the contrast here. New life against the old life of the barn and tree in the background. Very pretty birds! Looks like the young ones are almost adults! Nice photo. -- angela :)
