I got home a bit early today because I was at a client this afternoon. When I arrived, I found David ensconced in my office, working on MY PC. Why when he’s got a PC and a Mac does he need my PC? Well, his hatred of all things Microsoft means that he refuses point blank to use or buy any Microsoft software – in fact, he de-installed Windows from his new PC and replaced it with Linux, uses Opera for his browser, Eudora for his mail and Lotus Work suite for his spreadsheets etc.

I don’t really see the point in kicking against such a big rock though – I use Microsoft packages at work and feel it makes my life easier to use them at home too – I can just email stuff back and forth and know I can open my documents and use them without aggravation.

So why was he on my PC? Because he’s doing a big photography job at the moment for a client and they want all the photos he’s taking logged in an Excel spreadsheet – ah ha, so that’s it…..he’s on my PC because he won’t put Excel on his own!

He sent me away to amuse myself with the Mac while he was working and I took it into our conservatory where I was able to surf the net courtesy of our wi-fi network – that’s going to be so cool in the summer when sitting in the conservatory takes on a whole new dimension of pleasure. I was sitting with the Mac on my knee, on a steamer chair (mind you no sun has been seen here for a week or more) and looking across the room at my rocking chair in the light of the lamp and thinking ‘ah ha’ there is my PotD then!

The rocking chair was a birthday gift from Claire and Gary for my 40th and I love it. It’s so satisfying to be gently rocking back and forth in it with a cup of tea or a glass of wine.

Rosie was fascinated by the sight of me perched on the seat of the health rider (which I actually do use….though probably not as often as I should), tripod in front of me trying to compose my shot. She just stood there as still as a statue while the 8 second exposure captured her curiosity as well as the rocking chair and lamp!
