Oakdale Twp., Noble Co., Okla.

The American Goldfinch (Carduelis tristis) is a member of the Fringillidae family of which there are 140 species worldwide (except Oceania), including Gosbreaks and Crossbills. At 12.7 centimeters, it's the largest Goldfinch in North America and a year-round resident of Oklahoma. Between March and October, the male's plumage is bright yellow.
