In Australia, research has shown that there are still a lot of new species still to be "discovered" out there in the bush. While in some
cases, these animals are well known, they do not actually "exist" to the broader community until they have been given a name.
There is still a lot of work to be done. This small terrestrial gecko is common amongst the Kombolgie Sandstone environment of
Kakadu and Western Arnhem Land. It is closely related to Heteronotia planiceps but lacks the pale collar distinguishing that species,
and is more lightly built and strongly banded than the local Heteronotia binoei.
