Townsend school + 43 years

Here is my take on how the Townsend exterior has changed in 43 plus years. The b/w pic came from the 1959-60 yearbook, but may be much older. The car (in the b/w photo) appears to be a early '50s model, possibly a Chevy.

The sidewalk leading up to the front door is no longer there. The door has been bricked up. The original windows have been bricked up, and newer smaller ones installed. Air conditioning is evident. Hand rail is missing. The light at the left side of the door is missing. Some earth has been scraped off the front lawn in front of the camera. Above the old door there is a water stain type discoloration - it is still there, but a bit bigger. The old chimney is missing. Some new windows are on the right side of the bldg. Those black blocks in the original photo are still there but are quite faded.

All in all, she has aged pretty gracefully. I suppose that one day it will meet the fate of the Hartland and Wakeman schools. Both have been leveled. Sad.

I tried to position myself in the shoe steps of the original photographer. It turns out that I was about one step or so to the right. It was a cold blustery day, and my fingers were like ice after a few minutes
