November 23 2003:
Cabmen's Rest

Rothesay, Isle of Bute

Like myself, Cathie loves to go somewhere, even in Scotland on a cold November day. We took the ferry over to Bute, but found that most of the buses do not run in winter! However, we did take the local town bus up the steep hills overlooking the town and enjoying the view beyond. But there are still things to see on the 'promenade' and on the harbour jetty, including this canopy built in Victorian times. The cabmen would rest here with their horses after bringing passengers down for the ferry crossing over to Wemyss Bay (pronounced Weems!).

Great perspective. I guess it would also look great in B+W.

Hi Ray, Thanks for steering me to your image. I love the perspective and angle you have captured. Thanks for commenting on my image of the same place...I was probably in too big a hurry to even look UP...I never saw the sign! Carol

Ray, a good record of a Victorian pier. Been a few years since I was here

Chris: You must have looked hard to spot the gull. Now I see it!

I like ironwork and glazing, and you have made a nice job of the photography.
The Gull is lovely.

Very nice angle on this. You got the whole sign in there. I like the info too.
