Thank you for your reply on this photo Dave. It shows that you put an effort in compose this. I only wished i had your patinece when it came to take shotsof nature lie you do. I just don't have the vision for it.
The previous comment calls for a reply. This time things worked out because I put some extra effort into the picture. I spotted the horses as our vehicle approached the base of the ruins. I walked several yards away from the ruins and circled around the horses, which let me put both the horses and the ruins in the same scene.
I chose the longest setting on my zoom lens to enlarge the now somewhat distant ruins. Then I walked back several yards to shrink the horses (it was easy to control the size of the horses by walking away from them, as they aren't very large, at least in comparison to the ruins and the cliff behind them). When I was satisfied with the size of the horses, I made the photograph. So, while the elements in this photograph were "found," putting them together took some work.
One more thing. There were three horses in the original photograph. The head and neck of the third one stuck into the photo from the left, and I didn't particularly like it, so, with the help of Photoshop, it has been banished.
