what a marvelous shot, carol!! the lighting is in just the right places to create this exceptional mood. also, the catch light in your eye is perfect! the next time you are in ct, let me know, and perhaps we can meet. i love your style and we female photographers have to stick together since photography seems to be a man's world. after all, they are the ones able to carry all that heavy equipment around! LOL shu

Suggestive self-portrait, concentrated sharp eye, yet so soft and wondering. Beautiful tones!

Brilliant portraiture with powerful psychic undertones and depths.
Technically and artistically masterful!

Very nice SP Carol. Venetian blinds are very nice props for photos :)

Terrific photo, Carol. You're very willing to put yourself "out there" and yet there's the implication that much is hidden, perhaps even from yourself. A photograph can obscure as well as reveal.

I am always looking for expressive photography, and now I've found something more. Carol Sandgren. What a pleasure!

This is fantastic! Both for what it shows and the mystery it implies.
There is definitely something mysterious, almost ominous, in venetian blind shadows.
Beautifully done, Carol. And I do agree that your sense of titles is incredible!

Your sense of titles is excellent too, Carol!
I've always been fascinated, for some reason, by striped sunlight and shadows.
I think they create a particular mood in images, and here a lot is left to one's imagination.
A thought-provoking portrait...

Very suggestive image. Make me imagine plenty of possible "scenarios" around it. Thanks for this inner travel!

Thanks for your kind comments as always. Thank you for encouraging me to post it as well!

This is the strongest of your excellent array of portraits because of what it implies and also because of what it leaves up to the viewer. I see overtones of a growth here -- perhaps a person moving from a state of the unknown to the known. Wonderful rhythms and patterns, an image rich in incongruity, abstraction, and human values -- everything that makes photographs express meaning and ideas.

A sense of self, indeed!
