Phillip with Capt Ben Taylor. They've locked onto a large tarpon crossing the the ocean flats outside Islamorada. This is one of my favorite shots because I think it captures the teamwork between a great guide and a great son. It also shows the focus required to spot and cast a fly to these great fish.

A 100-pounder rose up out of a school of three fish. He lit up and sucked in the fly. Phillip set the hook and the fish immediately went airborne and somersaulted high in the air. After screaming off 200 yards of line in seconds, the fish cut off on an old channel marker, leaving us with no fish, no fly line, and almost no backing. But we had a great story!
