...an ancient Saxon hilltop town in the very northern tip of Dorset on the A350 to Warminster, Wiltshire. Shaftesbury was where the excellent movie of thomas hardy's classic "Far From the Madding Crowd" was filmed in the 1960's and starred Julie Christie & Terence Stamp.
