Wave-3

The Wave, Vermillion Cliffs, Utah

Taken in the brilliant noon sun that revealed the stark contrasts of this petrified sand dune.

The aspect that I like about the composition in this one is the strong horizontal line.
That line gives a frame of reference to a scene that doesn't otherwise have any frame of reference
in the wildly curving lines that make this place so incredibly interesting.

Galen Rowell would suggest that images need some sort of frame of reference for a viewer to grab on to.
That is important as we all crave meaning and that provides a way to understand the meaning.

An extraordinary image! Love that referential horizontal line as well. Beautifully seen, captured and presented.

Amazing texture and beautiful capture. Eye goes very smoothly along the curves. I would never guess what it is.
