Love a good scratch

Adelaide, South Australia

These donkeys seemed a bit itchy. They would bite where they could reach, and would bite at each other where they couldn't reach themselves.

Cropped, 'white eye' removal (clone stamp), unsharp mask, resized

Canon PowerShot S45
1/60s f/3.5 at 10.3mm with Flash full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

Thanks for your comments Paul. Yes, the background is distracting, and it is the same colour as the donkeys. With my old film SLR I could have blurred the background a little, but the S45 was using its maximum aperture for the focal length used. One day I will learn the in and outs of photoshop, but I generally like photos with as little processing as possible.

I like the fact that this looks like a young couple in love. It is a nic pic - my only comment would be I think if the DOF could have blurred the background more it would have placed increased focus on the subjects and their 'embrace'. I may be wrong on this but I played with it in photoshop (with the blur brush - to attempt to achieve a similar effect) and I think i'm right - I'm not sure if you'd have had time to capture it that way before they moved, or could even achieve the control with an S45 (no offence meant - my S50 would be the same difficulty I suspect, seems like they have trouble controlling DOF although I haven't tried enough to be sure yet). Nice pic though.
