Zum Guten Hirten
The Church of the Good Shepherd is a church building belonging to the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Berchtesgaden , alongside Christ Church in Berchtesgaden as its main church and other church buildings in Bischofswiesen and Schönau am Königssee . The parish belongs to the Traunstein Deanery within the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria . Given the relatively small percentage of its members within the aforementioned municipalities of the Berchtesgadener Land district, it exists in the minority situation of a diaspora. The church was built according to plans by the Munich architect Gustav Gsaenger on land acquired from the responsible forestry office in the area of the historic Schwarzeck district in Ramsau near Berchtesgaden. Following the laying of the foundation stone on November 10, 1957, by Dean Kelber (Traunstein), the topping-out ceremony took place on December 21, 1957, and on July 27, 1958, the "Church of the Good Shepherd" was consecrated by Senior Church Councilor Arnold Schabert.
