My trip to Ireland was an organized tour, and a large portion of the group consisted of a single family.
It was a three-generation group of Irish-Americans from Texas.
The oldest couple was celebrating their golden wedding anniversary; they had gifted this meaningful tour of Ireland to all their children and grandchildren so they could discover their roots.
On July 4th, they all wore special "uniform" to proudly display their Irish-American identity.
There was one extra T-shirt, and they insisted on giving it to me because I had been taking their group photos at every stop along our itinerary.
I had never seen such a large family — 18 people — where every single member was so kind, polite, and considerate.
On the last day of the tour, the couple told me that the husband had retired from NASA and that, if I ever wished to visit, he could show me around and help me get some exceptional shots.
Not having taken that trip remains one of the regrets of my life.
