Early Morning On Johnston Terrace Street-Edinburgh

Edinburgh, Scotland

We took a walk after breakfast on our last morning in Edinburgh. I would have loved to have had a few more days in Edinburgh but we were at the end of our trip unfortunately. My son Paul is on the far lower right and Heather my daughter in law is walking ahead with my grandson Wyatt. My other grandson on this trip was Owen and I have no idea where he was when I took this image. The good news is he made it back home with us so all was OK.

While colour is lovely, I often think black and white is perfect for so much photography, especially street scenes and especially for street scenes in someplace like Edinburgh. This is beyond beautiful. VV

A wonderful early-morning portrait of Edinburgh, with the soaring Gothic spire drawing the eye above the stately stone buildings of Johnston Terrace. The monochrome treatment beautifully emphasizes the city’s textures, architectural details and timeless character, while the passing traffic and pedestrians capture Edinburgh slowly coming to life.
There is also a gentle sense of farewell in the scene — a final walk through streets that still held so much more to discover. It is a lovely reminder that the places we are most reluctant to leave are often the ones that remain longest in our memories....wonderful composition...V

Lovely contrast and tones in this fine black & white image. Coming to the end of a trip is bittersweet. It's always good to be home again but hard to leave the adventure behind.
