A solitary golden birch tree acting as regimental Major General in full regalia, shrouded by rising mist, stands alone at the extreme tip of a long isthmus covered in scots Pine and birch trees, the unruly and dishevelled infantry splashed with gold and green all perfectly reflected in the still waters of Glen Affric shortly after sunrise. It was totally enchanting especially when a diffuse sun hesitantly shone through.
