Great Blue Heron

The Great Blue is on the top of the food chain at the lagoon. The Great Egret is just as large, but the awesome beak on the Great Blue is pretty intimidating to other birds. I think you can see why.

it is positively lethal, and the eye's firm focus adds to the sense of alarm..

Long and sharp. Many years ago we had a woman bring one into the veterinary office in a cat carrier. The bird was injured and so was the poor woman who brought it in. It certainly didn’t want to go into a cat carrier. She had been poked many times by that beak trying to help the poor thing. We don’t deal with birds so we sent her on her way to a wildlife sanctuary. Great closeup!
