Greyfriars Bobby was a legendary Skye Terrier from the 19th century who is famous for guarding his owner's grave for 14 years until his own death on January 14, 1872. His owner John Gray, was a watchman for the Edinburgh City Police. During those 14 years that Greyfriars Bobby guarded his owner's grave, it was reported he only left for meals at the sound of the traditional 1:00 PM gun fired from Edinburgh Castle. This is a bronze statute that honors Greyfriars Bobby's loyalty and devotion to his owner. In many ways both a heart warming and a heart breaking story.
