The Road to America 7-15-26

July 15, 1776...

Congress formally recorded New York’s approval of independence, completing the unity of all thirteen colonies. With unanimity finally secured, Congress moved toward preparing the permanent, engrossed parchment Declaration to later be signed. This moment marked a turning point in the Revolution, giving the Declaration its full authority as the united statement of American independence.

Ideals born in 1776 still offer a guide for what we can strive to be — a nation capable of unity and shared purpose. The red and white "Strawberry Picotee" petunias in their blue pot are a quiet reminder that hope for a better future can grow into a single, vibrant display. Today's flowers - 250 years later - symbolize the America we should aspire to: one where diversity strengthens us, unity uplifts us, and the promise of freedom continues to bloom.
