Huguetan House, an iconic and historically rich city palace. Commissioned by the immensely wealthy Huguetan family between 1734 and 1736, based on a design by architect Daniël Marot, and expanded in 1761 by combining it with adjacent properties (architect Pieter de Swart). The building is largely constructed in the stately and symmetrical Louis XIV style.
In 1813, the house became a city palace. Both King William I and King William II resided there. From 1819 to 1982, the Royal Library was housed here.
During the renovation of the Binnenhof starting in 2021, Huguetan House became the temporary home of the Senate of the States General.
