The glass structure is one of the famous Rathaus-Pavillons on the Rathausmarkt in Hamburg. These pavilions, with their semicircular glass barrel vaults and steel structures, were built in 1982 based on a postmodern design by the architect Timm Ohrt.
Mai-Mai was a very well-known and popular spot on the square for a quick bite. Due to a thorough renovation of the pavilions, the chip stand was closed in 2024.
