A Metallic Wood-boring Beetle crawling on the bark of a dying spruce tree.

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

The beetle was crawling around and the extension on the rear end kept extending and contracting. I think it is a female and was depositing eggs in the cracks of the bark.
