We left the Yorkshire Dales and spent the night in Dumbarton, Scotland
A friend wanted to visit Scotland to hike a Monro, which is any Scottish peak above 3000 ft.
Monros are named after Sir Hugh Monro, 4th Baronet, who produced the first list of such peaks.
We decided to hike the Southern most Munro, Ben Lomond.
Here is the view of Loch Lomond from about half way up the trail.
It was a nice cool day for this strenuous hike.
There is a relationship between the places we visited in this area of Scotland and our home in the San Francisco bay area.
We have the Dumbarton bridge crossing the San Francisco bay, named after the town we stayed in.
We have a town in the Santa Cruz mountains name Ben Lomond, named by a Scotsman living in the mountains after this peak, in Scotland.
And we have the reservoir Loch Lomond in the Santa Cruz mountains with the same name as this lake in Scotland.
