I got my Tiffany rings cleaned, but nothing new came home with me.
This Tiffany store has sat at the same location for over 22 years. It will be closing permanently at the end of June. The closure has been framed as part of broader economic strain on the Country Club Plaza and called “the latest sign about economic FAIL hitting the most luxurious spots”.
As for the future, this is not the first time Tiffany's has left town. The original Kansas City Tiffany sat at the corner of 47th & Broadway in the heart of the Plaza. It then left town for years, only to return in 2004. That says nothing is forever. One way or another. The Plaza itself is now under new ownership and will be going through a lot of changes itself. But for now, this is the end of Tiffany in Kansas City at this location. Will the store ever come back? Only time will tell. Meanwhile, I don't "need" any more Tiffany jewelry. But I will miss the store. It holds memories of Tara's puppyhood https://pbase.com/britestar/image/175273147
