We were supposed to be hiking in Eryri National Park (Snowdonia), but the weather turned cloudy and wet, so we walked down the street to visit this UNESCO World Heritage site.

The castle was built King Edward I, in the late 11 century, as the administrative center of north Wales.

The castle was used for the investiture of the Prince of Wales in 1911 and again in 1969 (Prince Charles)
