À la Grande Saline de Salins-les-Bains, la roue hydraulique monumentale actionne un système de pompage hydraulique historique datant du XIXe siècle. Entraînée par la Furieuse, rivière voisine, elle anime en continu un immense balancier en bois ainsi qu'une pompe, permettant de remonter de la saumure naturellement salée puisée à plusieurs centaines de mètres de profondeur. ~VVVVV+~ At the Grande Saline in Salins-les-Bains, the giant waterwheel powers a historic, 19th-century hydraulic pumping system. Driven by the nearby Furieuse river, it continuously drives a massive wooden rocker arm (pendulum) and pump to draw naturally salty brine from hundreds of meters deep in the earth. ~VVVVV+~
