Memorial Day is the unofficial first day of Summer for many people. Getting the last of my warm season "annuals" planted is the same for my courtyard. In the photo, there are 11 pots of petunias and calibrachoa. I also planted one tall pot of impatiens in the corner and 5 more pots of petunias and calibrachoa on the front porch. Yes, it was a lot of work. Anyone who does gardening will understand that this wasn't a 5-minute project. Although it was much smaller than what I'm doing on the back deck, but it is still worth reminding my future self that summer flowers don't plant themselves: not even under 20 pots of them filled with multiple plants. I will revisit this scene with my camera later in the Summer after the plants start to mature. Meanwhile, it is already a very peaceful place to sit and enjoy fresh air while listening to the gentle sound of water from the fountain. That is my reward.
