Two of three large bronze bison statues — a bull, cow, and calf — that were installed outside the Smithsonian’s Museum of Natural History on the National Mall in March. Created by artist Gary Staab, these permanent sculptures celebrate the U.S. 250th anniversary and the American bison as the national mammal.
I had posted a picture of the bull in March http://pbase.com/helenpb/image/176237261 but was unable to get a good shot of the mother and calf at the time with my iPhone due to the long distance. We drove by the museum again yesterday; Tim pulled over in a no parking zone, while I jumped out and tried again, this time with my “real” camera.
