This Monastery does not have documentation that allows us to know its history accurately because its archives have been burned twice. According to the studied documentation of the historian D. Hipólito Sancho de Sopranos, in his work “The Order of the Holy Spirit in the Archbishopric of Seville” (1500 – 1600), the Order of Blessed Guido de Montpellier was established in the Port of Santa María in the hospital of San Telmo, under the double invocation of the Holy Spirit, in the year 1474, and that the house presented in its origins the characteristic features of the hospitals of the aforementioned Order.
